Abstract

Objective To investigate the influence of Propofol on the plasmic content of endothelin(ET) in patients with intracranial tumor.Method 40 patients(ASAⅠ~Ⅱ) underwent selective operations were divided into two groups, the Propofol group(group A,n=20) and the Isoflurane group (group B,n=20).Collecting venous blood of pre-anesthesia(T0),1 hour(T1),3 hours(T2) after intubation and 4 hours(T3) after operation respectively, and the content of ET was then measured via radio immunoassay. Results There was no significant difference of ET content between the two groups at T0.The content of ET both increased in the two groups at T1 and the ascending extent in group B was bigger than that of group A(P0.05).The content of ET in group A at T2 was lower than that at T1,and was significantly lower than that of group B(P0.01).The content of ET in group B at T2 was also decreased compared with that at T1,but made no significant meaning(P0.05).The content of ET decreased significantly in group A at T4,and was dramatically lower than that of group B(P0.01),while the content of ET in group B was not significantly decreased(P0.05). Conclusion Therapeutic dose of Propofol can significantly inhibit the content of ET in patients with intracranial tumor.
