Abstract
Objective To evaluate olfactory ensheathing cells(OECs) transplantation in treating spinal cord injury. Methods Olfactory bulb was got and trypsinized to single OECs.The cells were cultured for 2-3 weeks, and then transplanted into the upper and lower sites between injury and normal spinal cord.110 cases of patients with spinal cord injury of half to 40 years were treated.Among them 90 patients expressed complete spinal cord injury and other 20 with incomplete spinal cord injury. Results Between 2 months and 6 months after OECs transplantation the patients showed recovery in spinal cord function. Conclusion OECs transplantation can help patients with spinal cord injury to recover their spinal cord function.
