Abstract
serum specimens of suspected measles cases were tested for measles and rubella IgM antibodies by Capture-IgM ELISA, in Jining during 1999 to 2000. The results showed that the positive rates of measles and rubella IgM antibodies were 58.10%(104/179) and 10.06% (18/179) respectively and 31.84%(57/179) specimens were negative in both measles and rubella antibody. Among 179 cases, 106 were outbreak cases and 73 were sporadic. It was suggested that measles and rubella accurred mainly in the form of outbreak in our city. The Capture-IgM ELISA is highly sensitive for early diagnosis of measles and rubella, the results were related to the time of sample collection and reservation of serum specimens.
