Avifauna and Diversity of Birds in Henan Wanbaoshan Provincial Nature Reserve

An investigation of the avifauna and diversity of birds was carried out in Wanbaoshan Provincial Nature Reserve from July 2009 to Dcember 2011.A total of 124 species of birds were recorded,which belonged to 16 orders and 39 families.Among them,37 species were resident birds(29.8%),29 were summer visitors(23.4%),25 were winter visitors(20.2%),and 33 were travelers(26.6%).Among the 66 species who breed in this area,21 species are distributed in the Palaearctic realm(31.8%),13 species are in the Oriental realm(19.7%),and 32 species are cosmopolitic species.21 species belonged to National Key Protection birds.Based on the result,some suggestions about the protection of the avifauna in the Reserve are proposed.
