Clinical application of uterine arterial embolization in massive postpartum hemorrhage

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinic effect of uterial artery embolization(UAE) in massive postpartum hemorrhage.Methods There were 19 patients with massive postpartum hemorrhage involved in the present study,including 9 cases with caesarean birth,6 cases with vaginal spontaneous labor and 4 cases with induced abortion.DSA angiography showed the original of the hemorrhage with Seldinger's technique.The patients were treated with arteries embolization with gelfoam(GF).Results All the patients were successfully treated.There was not any obvious complication.Conclusion It is effective and safe to treat massive postpartum hemorrhage with UAE.
