Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of cinnamic acid (CINN) on differentiation induction of a human lung adenocarcinoma cell subline (A549) Methods: A549 cells were treated with CINN in vitro The proliferation rate, mitotic index, colony forming ability in semisolid agar culture were tested The cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry(FCM) Results: CINN treatment could markedly inhibit proliferation and mitosis(P0 05), reduce colony forming rate (P0 05) CINN may inhibit DNA synthesis and mitosis of A549 cells, and arrest the cells in the G1/G0 phase Conclusion: This study indicated that CINN could induce the reversion of malignancy of A549 cells and provided experimental data for potential use of CINN in cancer treatment
