Treatment of 64 cases of incisional hernia of abdominal wall

Abstract

Objective To explore the treatment and the perioperative management of incisional hernia of abdominal wall.Methods From January 2000 to October 2004,64 cases with incisional hernia of abdominal wall treated in Xinhua Hospital were analyzed retrospectively.Results In all 64 cases,8 had small incisional hernia,20 big nicisional hernia and 36 giant incisional hernia.Twenty were followed up for 8 months to 45 months and no recurrence occurred.Conclusion Application of prolene mesh,preoperative compress bandaging with abdominal bandage for two weeks,preoperative prophylactic application of antimicrobial and routine intestinal preparation can prevent the occurrence of incisional hernia of abdominal wall.
