Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of fiber post and traditional cast metal post for the restoration of large area of defective tooth. Methods 116 cases of patients with large area of defective tooth selected in our hospital from June 2010 to August 2012 were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group were received fiber post restoration. The control group were received traditional cast metal post restoration. The treatment success rate and adverse defects rate of two groups were compared. Results The treatment success rate of experimental group was 87.93%(51/58),which was significantly higher than 60.34%(35/58) of control group( P0.05).The adverse defects rate of experimental group was 15.52%(9/58),which was significantly lower than 58.62%(34/58) of control group(P0.05). Conclusion Fiber post restoration is more effective than traditional cast metal post restoration for large area of defective tooth with high treatment success rate and low adverse defects. It ′s worth of clinical widely used.
