The Influences of Age on Pregnancy Outcome

Objective To investigate the influences of age on pregnancy outcome in advanced pregnancy women.Methods 716 cases of advanced maternal age delivered in our hospital from January 2005 to December 2010 were analyzed by retrospective control review.To compare the difference of delivery methods,complications,neonatal outcome between group A (aged from 40 ~ 44) and group B (aged from 35 ~ 39).Results The incidence of advanced age pregnancy increased year by year,the incidence of pregnancy complications increased obviously in both group A and group B,the incidence of pregnancy-induced hypertension and the rate of cesarean section were significantly higher in group A than group B (P 0.05);the rate of abnormal newborn and perinatal mortality rate had no significant difference (P 0.05);the incidence of pregnancy complications and rate of cesarean section had no significant difference (P 0.05) in multiparas aged from 40 ~ 44;the rate of cesarean section caused by advanced age in primipapas was significantly higher than pluripapas (P 0.05).Conclusion The incidence of the pregnancy complications and the rate of cesarean section obviously increase with the development of age.
