Abstract
Politeness,as a common social phenomenon,exists in different languages and culture.And both people's success of cross-cultural communication and the normal development of society are closely connected with the application of politeness language.Since the pragmatic pattern of politeness varies from culture to culture.This paper will study the pragmatic distinction of English and Chinese politeness and then analyze its cultural sources.
