Clinical application of adjustable suture on trabeculectomy

Objective To observe the effect of adjustable suture on the trabeculectomy.Methods 60 cases of 80 eyes with diagnosis of angle closure or open angle glaucoma were performed the standard triangle sclera flap and trabeculectomy,and with 2 ajustable sutures on the both sides of triangle flap.The intraocular pressure,anterior chamber depth,conjunctival bleb were observed postoperatvely.The suture was removed when the anterior chamber formed stably,or the intraocular pressure was over 10 mm Hg.Results The anterior chamber formed deeply on the first post-operative day.The adjustable suture was removed within 2 weeks,with an average 7 days.The conjunctiva filtered bleb increased apparently after the suture's pull-out.Conclusion The scleral adjustable suture may help the anterior chamber's reforming after the trabeculectomy and make it a safer procedure.
