Abstract
Objective: To analyze the published papers of Nanjing General Hospital in 2006 that were included by the SCI database and the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information in China(ISTIC) in 2007,further reveal the level of the hospital's scientific research and provide reference for the administrators to make relevant policies and promote the output of SCI-included papers. Methods: Bibliometric statistic studies were conducted on the published papers of the hospital that were included by the SCI database in four aspects: the number, the authors, the departments and the journals. Results: Seventy-four published papers were included by SCI and collected by ISTIC in 2007,ranking sixth among all the medical institutions in China. The numbers of the papers varied in different departments. Most of the first authors were highly educated. The articles were published by 54 journals with an average impact factor of 1.849(the highest 5.391).Conclusion: The SCI-included papers were written mostly by highly educated authors, especially by graduate students, and mainly from the key departments, but few were published in the journals of a higher impact factor.
