Abstract

In widely used generator rectifier systems,RC filter and back EMF are commonly mounted to improve the harmonic characteristics of DC side output voltage. An equivalent circuit model of the three phase generator rectifier system with back EMF load is constructed in this paper. The proposed method is based on the principal flux linkage and voltage equations on the d q coordinates of the synchronous machine. The AC generator is regarded as sine supply voltage sources with impedance and reactance. The mathematical models for output voltage harmonics are derived based on the rectifier switching funtions. The harmonics and ripple coefficients of the output voltage are analyzed both in case of DC side with RC filter and with back EMF load. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by the results of experiment.
