Abstract

The essay talks about how Shen Congwen's conception of “country folk” came into being, and the unique artistic feature born form the conception——the magical natural view of the west of Hunan, the different folkway, the energetic simple people etc. So that the author clarifies that the conception of “country folk” give Shen Congwen's creation a positive sense.
