Abstract
Objective To evaluate the curative effect and safety of azithromycin pulse 0.025% tretinoin cream in the treatment of patients with moderate acne.Method The patients with moderate acne were randomly allocated to two groups: a test group and a control group. The patients from the test group orally took azithromycin 500 mg once daily for 4 days each month. The patients from the control group orally took doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 4 weeks followed by once daily for 4 weeks. At the same time all patients were treated every evening with 0.025% tretinoin cream for 8 weeks.Result The cure rate and effective rate in the test group were 25.58% and 79.07%,respectively,while they were 22.50% and 72.50% in the control group. There were no statistical significant differences in above-mentioned two rates between the two groups(χ2=0.108,P0.05 and χ2=0.489,P0.05).Conclusion Azithromycin pulse 0.025% tretinoin cream has reliable effectiveness, fewer side effects and better compliance in the treatment of moderate acne.
