Abstract
A new catalytic spectrophotometic method for determination of trace nitrite was developed. The method is based on the catalytic effect of NO~-_2 on oxidation of bromophenol red by potassium bromate in H_3PO_4 mediun. The detection limit for nitrite is 0.58×10~-6 g/L.The linear range of the determination is 0.5×10~-6~20×10~-6 g/L and the recoveries are between 96%~104%.The method was applied to direct determination of nitrite in food with satisfactory results.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
