Abstract
Objective To compare the effects of Chinese medicine, western medicine and integrative traditional Chinese and western medicine in treating subclinical hypothyroidism, and evaluate the therapeutic effect of Wenshenfang. Methods 75 patients were randomly divided into Chinese medicine group treated by Wenshenfang, western medicine group treated by L-T4,and integrative medicine group treated by both Wenshenfang and L-T4,with 25 cases in each group. The duration of a course of treatment was one month, and the therapeutic effect was assessed after three courses of treatment. Results The total effective rate and the level of thyroid hormone in the integrative medicine group were significantly higher than the other groups(P0.05).Conclusion Integrative traditional Chinese and western medicine has better therapeutic effect than either Chinese medicine or western medicine alone in treating subclinical hypothyroidism.
