A Textual Study of Chapter Waiwu, Zhuangzi

Waiwu is one of the important chapters in Zhuangzi written by the later students of Zhuangzi School. In this chapter, one of the propositions is‘I would rather forget about them to stop its evaluation than praise Yao, a legendary saint, and condemn Jie, a legendary evil ruler, in the ancient times'. This is a key to understand Zhuangzi 's relativism. The atiquarianism was extremely popular in the Warring States period. The later Zhuangzi school thought that treasuring the ancient and looking down upon the comtonprary was just one of the scholars' habits, while from the viewpoint of the Xiwei clan, the so-called ancient was just the comtonprary condemned by the scholars. That is also a significant proposition. And lastly they thought that the true teaching is not learning and natural study could always maintain a society fresh and robust. This proposition well expresses Zhuiangzi School's views of natural education.
