Abstract
The species diversity and flora elements of Gymnosperms in Northwest Yunnan were investigated based on the flora information in large scale. The results indicated that there are 52 species subordinated into 20 genera and 8 families in this region. The important families included Pinaceae,Cupressaceae,Cephalotaxaceae and Taxodiaceae;and major genera were Abies,Cephalotaxus,Sabina and Pinus. Most of Gymnosperms in this area were narrow ranged. The Northwest Yunnan was one of the most diversity center of Gymnosperms in China. The analysis of flora showed the strong temperate character and species differentiation, which were consistent to the geology history and topography in Northwest Yunnan.
