Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of allogeneic bone plate combined with autologous red bone marrow and allogeneic bone particles in treatment of tibial bone defects. Methods:All 23 patients with traumatic bone defects of tibia were treated from 2008 to 2010,there were 15 males and 8 females, aging 18-58 years(mean 34.8 years),including 10 cases at the left side and 13 at the right side. The proximal one-third segment of tibia shaft defect was 26.1%,middle one-third segment was 34.8%,and distal one-third segment was 39.1%.All the patients were treated by allogeneic bone plate combined with autologous red bone marrow and allogeneic bone particles. Results: All patients were followed up for 14 to 26 months, with an average of 20.3 months. The bone defects healing well after surgery, and the average time of bony union was 12.6 weeks.According to criterion of Merchan, the results were excellent in 14 cases, good in 5,fair in 2,and no poor case. The excellent and good rate of knee function was 95%(19/21) in one year after operation. Conclusion: It is reliable for allogeneic bone plate combined with autologous red bone marrow and allogeneic bone particles for treatment of traumatic bone defects of tibia, for its advantages of stable fixation, higher bone healing rate, and short healing period.
