Abstract

Objective:To study the clinical and pathological characteristics of patients with primary bronchogenic carcinoma of the lung over ten years.Methods:1,485 cases who had made a definite diagnosis from 2001 to 2010 were grouped.Retrospective analysis was carried out to compare the clinico-pathologic features. Results:Lung cancer was identified in 1,119 men and 366 women. The occurrence ratio of male to female was 3.06:1.The age of onset is from 24 to 90.The mean age was 59.The study had 664 cases in the left lung, and 821 cases in the right.A total of 705 cases were squamous cell carcinoma and 511 cases were adenocarcinoma. Conclusions:The incidence of lung cancer was higher in male than in female patients. The incidence of lung cancer in females were heightened(P0.05).The incidence of lung cancer was higher in the right than in the female patients(P 0.05).The incidence of squamous cell carcinoma was higher than the other category.Squamous cell carcinoma is the main histological type in male patients, and adenocarcinoma is the main histological type in female patients.
