Abstract

Hongyan is a word of high frequency.As the most authoritative dictionary,the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary has a comparatively mono-definition of this word.Based on the corpus statistics,this paper concludes that hongyan has five senses as a dictionary entry,such as beauty,feminine,looks of beautiful ladies and rosy cheeks,etc.
