Abstract
Innovative and creative application of knowledge has become an inexhaustible motive force for the development and progress of medical science while the cultivation of innovative talents is an important issue in advanced medical education. The eight-year medical education program in China is a new long-term medical education system in accordance with international high level standards and requirements. Based on the reform and practice in advanced medical education, the practice and experience in improving eight-year medical students' innovative capacity were elaborated and the effective way to cultivate the students' innovation was explored.
