An Analysis of Factors Affecting Energy Consumption——Based on the Industries and Regions Decomposition

With LMDI decomposition method,we make an analysis on the influential factors of total energy consumption in China.The result shows that: according to decomposition of industry,the ratios of capital to labor and industrial export to its GDP are the main impetus to total energy consumption,while the ratio of industrial energy consumption to exports lead to a decrease in total energy consumption;according to decomposition of province,the ratio of capital to labor and energy intensity are the two main factors affecting total energy consumption,but their effect is contrary.The energy intensity in western region is higher than eastern and central regions,and the rate of decline is slow.The energy intensity has weak inhibition on the growth of total energy consumption in the western region.Therefore,in the short term,we should put emphasis on reducing the energy intensity of industry and transportation,and optimize the export structure;in the long term,we should make efforts to adjust industrial structure and energy consumption structure;for the regions,the western region should focus on improving energy efficiency especially,strengthen technological exchanges and cooperation with the eastern and central regions,and carry out energy conservation and regional harmonious development.
