Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlations of serum pre-S_1 and HBeAg and HBV DNA in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods 651 patients with chronic hepatitis B were included in the study. Serum samples were detected with the quantitative determination of HBV DNA by a quantitative PCR assay and detemination of pre-S_1 protein by ELISA. Results The positive rates of HBV DNA and pre-S1 protein in patients with HBsAg/HBeAg/anti-HBc positive were 98.5%and 97.0%,respectively; in patients with HBsAg/anti-HBe/anti-HBc positive were 63.0%and 62.4%,respectively; in patients with HBsAg/anti-HBc positive were 49.1% and 45.4%,respectively. In samples with HBVDNA≥103copies /ml,the positive rate of HBeAg and pre-S1 were 34.1%and 95.7%,while in sera with HBV DNA103copies/ml,the positive rate of HBeAg and pre-S_1 were 0.9% and 2.4%.Conclusion Pre-S_1 is more sensitive than HBeAg in diagnosing viral replication in patients with chronic hepatitis B.
