Abstract
A three-dimensional geometric and finite element model of a drum brake was set up by means of commercial FE software ANSYS Workbench.By means of the brake test method and results, three different allocation scheme and different directions of the promoting forces,as well as different frictional factors are considered. The simulation results which are corresponding to the experiment’s are obtained.Compared the results of the stress field simulation with the experimental,a reasonable finite element analysis method of the stress field was found out.Based on the simulation the result of contact pressure distribution between the brake drum and brake shoes are obtained as well as the equivalent stresses of the brake.
