Abstract
Isoamyl acetate was synthesized through the esterification reaction of isoamyl alcohol with acetic acid using iodine catalysis. The effects of the molar ratio of reactant, the amount of catalyst, reaction temperature and reaction time on the yield of product were discussed. The experiment showed that the optimized reaction conditions are as follows:the molar ratio of isopentyl alcohol(0.1 mol) to acetic acid(0.14 mol) is 1 ∶ 1.4;the amount of catalyst is 1.5 g,reaction temperature is 80 ℃ and the reaction time is 45 min.Under the optimum conditions, the yield of isoamyl acetate reached more than 88.7%.
