Efficacy and safety of combination therapy with low-dose fluvastatin and fenofibrate for combined hyperlipidemia

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combinaton therapy with low-dose Fluvastatin and fenofibrate in patients with combined hyperlipidemia.Methods 182 patients with combined hyperlipidemia were randomly assigned to receive 40 mg Fluvastatin(n=60)or 200 mg fenofibrate(n=58),or a combination of 40 mg Fluvastatin and 200 mg fenofibrate(n=64)for 12 weeks.Results After 12 weeks treatments,serum TC,LDL-C and TG levels were reduced more significantly in combi-nation therapy group,compared with the two monotherapy groups(P0.05),combined treatments were well tolerated with no increase in adverse events.Conclusion Combi nation therapy with low-dose Fluvastatin(40 mg/d)and fenofibrate(200 mg/d)is more effective than Fluvastatin or fenofibrate monotherapy in patients with combined hyperlipidemia,and is generally safe and well tolerated.
