The Value of Pleural Fluid Adenosine Deaminase Lactate Dehydrogenase Carcinoembryonic Antigen in Differential Diagnosis of Tuberculous and Malignant Pleural Effusion

Abstract

Objective: To investigate diagnostic value of combined detection of adenosine deaminase( ADA),human lactate dehydrogenase( LDH),carcinoembryonic antigen( CEA) measured jointly between tuberculous and malignant pleural effusion. Method: The levels of ADA,LDH,CEA in pleural effusion were detected in 52 patients with tuberculous pleural effusion( tuberculous group) and 54 patients with malignant pleural effusion( malignant group) statistical analysis. Result: In tuberculous group,ADA levels was significantly higher than those in malignant group( P 0.05),and CEA levels was significantly lower( P 0.01).There's no significant difference in patients with pleural effusion LDH levels in the two groups. Conclusion:It's important to differential diagnose tuberculous and malignant pleural effusion pleural fluid ADA,CEA.LDH is not alone as the basis for differential diagnosis.
