A clinical observation on the effect of surgical treatment for varicocele-associated male infertility

Objectives:To observe how surgical treatment influences the sperm quality of varicocele-associated infertile patients.Methods:520 male infertile patients with varicocele were treated with retroperitoneal varicocelectomy.Semen parameters,seminal plasma and microelement of these cases were measured and recorded before operation and 3,6,12 months after operation.Results:Sperm density,survival rate,normal appearance sperm rate and sperm count were all significantly improved compared with pre-operation(P0.05).Spouses of 270 patients were followed up within 2 years after operation,and 190 out of 270 were pregnant(70.37%).Conclusions:Retroperitoneal varicocelectomy on varicocele-associated infertility are effective.This surgical treatment can improve sperm quality of patients.
