Abstract
It was a key factor for successful afforestion that selecting the adaptive tree species adapted the ecological environment.Taking 14 common afforestation species as the research objects in Wanglonggou Basin of Yi County in Taihang Mountain, the main distribution areas of different species under natural condition were investigated.Choosing 10 trees at 2-4 years, and taking mature leaves from the trunks and middle of main branch as the samples, the correlation between the ratio of irreducible water to free water in leaves and soil water content, and then their relationship with drought tolerance were analyzed, which could provide theoretical basis for the selection of drought resistant afforestation tree species in the area. The results showed that different tree species distributed in different parts of the hills. There exited a extremely significance negative correlation between the ratio of irreducible water to free water of each leaves and soil water content of their main distribution areas, namely higher the ratio, stronger the drought tolerance. After a long-term natural selection, the species retained in the upper of hilly had stronger drought tolerance.
