Influence of Helicobacter pylori on gastric acid and duodenal ulcer

Abstract

In order to study the effect of Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection on gastric acid and its relation to duodenal ulcer (DU).We investigated the gartric pH, acid output and concentration of ammonia (NH 3) in HP positive patients with DU and after emdication of HP infection. The results showed the levels of gastric acid and NH + 4 in HP positive patients with DU were significantly higher than controls After eradiocation of HP infection, the levels of gastric acid and NH + 4 were turned in normal level·HP infection causes acid secretion to be increased. The interaction of both factors play more important role in pathogenic mechanism in patients with DU.
