A comparison between laparoscopic cluster ligation and high ligation of internal spermatic veins

Objective To compare the efficacy between laparoscopic cluster ligation and high ligation of internal spermatic veins in the treatment of varicocele.Methods Eighty - two patients were randomly divided into two groups,42 patients (treatment group) who underwent laparoscopic cluster ligation and 40 patients (control group) who received laparoscopic high ligation of internal spermatic veins to analyse the sperm quality,surgery time and the clinical performance.Results Significant difference was found in the operation time (P0.01 ) and healing rate between the two groups (P0.05) ,but there was no difference in the left testicular blood supply before and after operation or in the left testicular volume (P 0.05).The biggest vessel diameter of the vein was significantly reduced after operation ( P 0.05 ) ,but there was no significant difference between the two groups ( P 0.05 ).Conclusions Laparoscopic cluster ligation and high ligation of the internal spermatic vein for the treatment of varicocele are reliable procedures,but the former has the advantages of a shorter duration of operation,simpler procedures and a higher cure rate.
