Abstract
2,6-Dimethylphenol was prepared by the diazotization reaction of 2,6-dimethylphenylamine with sodium nitrite in dilute solution of sulfuric acid to form diazonium salt, then the salt was hydrolyzed in the solution of sulfuric acid with copper sulfate. The optimum process conditions were determined:n (2,6-dimethyphenylamine):n(sulfuric acid):n(sodium nitrite) =1.0:3.0:1.05,the concentration of sulfuric acid for hydrolysis initially was 40%,reaction temperature was 120℃.The yield of final product was 87.5%.The target product was confirmed by elemental analysis.IR and ~1HNMR.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.

Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
