Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship between triiodothyronine(T3) levels and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in patients with diastolic heart failure(DHF).Methods:Plasma levels of T3 and BNP were measured in ninty-six patients diagnosed DHF clinically.Forty-five of which were with low T3 level and fifty-one of which were with normal T3 level.BNP levels of the two groups were compared.Results:The BNP level of patients with DHF with low T3 level were significantly higher than those with normal T3 level(P0.01).The levels of BNP were(557.4±92.4) ng/L and(308.9±84.6) ng/L respectively.Conclusions:Low T3 levels may promote the plasma BNP secretion in patients with diastolic heart failure.
