Study on the mental healthy status of middle and elementary school teachers in Urumqi

Objective:To study the mental healthy status of the middle and elementary school teachers.Methods:One thousand and five hundred teachers checked by cluster sampling were examined by SCL-90 and Affect Scales.Results:The mental health conditions of teachers in middle and elementary schools of Urumqi were worse than the average of nationwide adults,and the symptoms were obvious.The mental healthy status of the teachers of Hui and Han ethnic group were poorer than others.The short work-length teachers were better than the long work-length teachers.The teachers who teach Chinese and English were worse than the other subject teachers in the mental healthy status.The high academic career teachers were better than the low academic career teachers in the mental healthy status.Full-time teachers were superior to the part-time teachers.On the degree of psychological satisfaction,the mathematics teachers were higher than the other subject teachers,the part-time job and the high academic teachers were higher than the others.Conclusion:The mental healthy condition of teachers in middle and elementary schools of Urumqi are worser than the average of nationwide adults.The mental health state is different among ethnicities,work ages,subjects,academic careers,part-time or full-time.
