The Expansion of the WTO Trade Policy Framework and China's Trade Policy Reform

In the post-war period, the international trade standards based on the GATT/WTO principles have increasingly affected the trade policy making and trade activities in all countries. However, it is worth noting that this framework of trade policy standards has been expanding as time passes by. Among many changes, competition policy and industrial policy have recently been the focus of the expansion. The trade policy framework in the future will very much depend on the basis of competition policy, combined with industrial policy. China has achieved great progress in reforming her trade policies, but she obviously lags behind in the reform of competition and industrial policies. China's further reform needs to cope with the international trend of trade policy, to complete the market system with full consideration of competition policy and to adjust the relationships among various economic policies.
