Abstract

The methodology and approach of engine intake manifold optimization design is described in detail in this paper.The design variables are the intake pipes length,the intake pipes diameter of the manifold,the engine speed of changing the length and so on.The optimization target is the engine volumetric efficiency,the torque at low speed,the maximum torque and power.The engine intake manifold system's geometry was calculated with GT-Power and confirmed.Then,the hardware prototypes were done,and engine with new two phase variable length intake manifold was tested in bench,the test verified the simulation results.
