Abstract
Objective:To detect the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 3(MMP-3) and matrix metalloproteinase 7(MMP-7) in the human lumbar disc tissue, and to provide biochemical basis for the study of resorption,in order to further study the mechanism of resorption of the lumbar disc. Methods:Lumbar disc specimens in 30 patients with lumbar disc herniation were stained by immunohistochemistry. Results:In ruptured lumbar disc specimens, the expression of MMP-3 and MMP-7 were higher than that in non-ruptured lumbar disc specimens, there was significant differences between the two groups.Conclusion:MMP-3 and MMP-7 may be related to the resorption of lumbar disc tissue in the patients with lumbar disc herniations,it was easier to be resorbed in ruptured lumbar disc specimens than that in non-ruptured lumbar disc specimens.
