Abstract
In the presence of surfactant OP and in the medium of pH=11.0 NH4Cl-NH3·H2O,4-sulfo-benzenediazoaminoazobenzene forms a red complex with cadmium(Ⅱ).The complex has a maximum absorption at 522 nm.The molar ratio of the reagent to Cd(Ⅱ) is 2 : 1.Beer's law is well obeyed in the range of(0~15) μg/25mL for cadmium, the correlation coefficient is 0.998,and the molar absorptivity e =1.88×105 L · mol-1 · cm-1.This method has been applied to the direct determination of cadmium in waste water with satisfactory results.
