Abstract
Objective To provide the evidence for developing malaria control strategy by understanding malaria epidemic situation. Methods To statistics and describe malaria epidemic situation and the work of malaria control of 1999~2001 in Yunnan Province by using the method of routine epidemic statistics. Results There were 31 858 malaria cases have been reported in 120 counties of 16 prefecture in Yunnan Province from 1999~2001. It accounts for 13.43% of total communicable disease number of whole province. The average annual malaria incidence was 2.63 in 1999~2001. In the counties which malaria incidence is higher than 5, the population was account for 20% about but the malaria cases was account for 80% about compared with whole province. There were 21 630 malaria cases and 5 292 falciparum malaria cases had been reported in 25 border counties and occupied to 67.90% of total malaria cases and 78.52% of total farciparum malaria cases in whole province. The highest malaria infection of mobile population was in the group of mobile only in Yunnan Province. The malaria cases, which reported by epidemic situation report system, were lower than the cases of blood examination of fever cases. That means some malaria cases had not been reported by the epidemic situation report system. Conclusion Malaria situation is still serious in Yunnan Province. In the malaria control plan of 2001~2005, we need to strengthening malaria control staffs ability and residents awareness for malaria treatment and prevention through carrying out health promotion, to set up the malaria control management model of early diagnosis, prompt treatment and reduce the contact of human vector.
