Abstract

Objective To analysis the current epidemiological status and transmission trend of malaria in Rizhao,Linyi,Zaozhuang,Jining and Heze, where malaria was the joint epidemic prevented in the south of Shandong province,so as to provide evidence for malaria surveillance and control after its basical elimination. Methods Based on the information of malaria from CDCs(Center for Diseases Control and Prevention) in these five cities from 2003 to 2007,we registrated and confirmed the local infection, the importation or suspected malaria cases,to carry out epidemiological investigations one by one, collation of data and statistically analysis. Results Malaria is in noticeable upward trend in the south of Shandong Province, including the five cities, where malaria was joint prevented. The infection rate in 2005~2007 increased by 293%,586% and 686% respectively,as compared with that of 2004.The reported malaria cases both distributed concentrated and relatively dispersal. Most cases were infected with vivax malaria and the number of indigenous cases were increased..There were more male cases than that of females. The farmers and peasant workers were the main population suffered from the disease. Conclusion Malaria infection in this region shows an increasing trend and the cities(counties) neibouring the provinces of Jiangsu,Anhui and Henan to be the target area for malaria control. From now on the work of joint management of mobile population be strngthened and progessional techniques malaria control workers be enhanced.
