Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of mycophenolate mofetil(MMF) on treating chronic and primary glomerulonephritis. Methods: 27 patients with chronic and primary glomerulonephritis were treated by MMF. 12 out of them were confirmed by renal biopsy. The initial dosage of MMF was 1.0 g/d. The dosage was reduced to 0.5~0.75 g/d after three-month treatment. The maintaining dosage was 0.25~0.5 g/d after six months. The duration of MMF treatment was at least six months. Creatinine clearance, serum creatinine, 24 h protein excretion and serum albumin were performed before and six months after MMF treatments. Results: The treatment of MMF increased the creatinine clearance (P0.05) and decreased the urine protein and serum creatinine (P0.05). One patient was infected by herpes virus and two patients developed slight diarrhea, others had no side effects. Conclusions: MMF is effective in the treatment of chronic and primary glomerulonephritis. Treatment with MMF associates with less side effect and good tolerance.
