Abstract

Objective To explore the correlation between red blood cell distribution width( RDW) and the severity of coronary lesions. Methods According to the results of coronary angiography, the 697 patients were divided into coronary heart disease group( n = 453) and non-coronary heart disease group( n = 244). The clinical data were compared between two groups and risk factors of coronary heart disease were analyzed by multivariant logistic regression analysis. Results The levels of RDW in coronary heart disease group were significantly higher than those in non-coronary heart disease group. RDW values were increased with the increase of coronary lesions severity. Multivariant logistic regression analysis showed that RDW value was independently associated with coronary heart disease and the severity of coronary lesions. The higher RDW values, the severer coronary lesions( β = 0. 282,P 0. 01). Conclusion RDW is closely correlated with the severity of coronary lesions, and the increase of RDW may be an independent predictor for the severity of coronary heart disease.
