Abstract

Evaluation of groundwater quality is the basis for the protection of water environment and realization of sustainable utilization of groundwater resources.Using the TOPSIS model to evaluate groundwater quality is often limited by its drawbacks in multiple criteria decision making. In this paper, two improvements were performed to the TOPSIS model. One improvement was that subjective weight(AHP method) and objective weight(entropy value method) are used to determine combinatorial weights, and the other improvement was that the Kullback-Leibler distance instead of the traditional Euclidean distance is used to calculate the similarity degree. The improved TOPSIS model was applied to evaluate the groundwater quality in Handan city and Jiaozuo city, and the evaluation results were consistent with the referenced results, which indicated that the improved TOPSIS model is basically feasible and rational for the groundwater quality evaluation, and it is a worth-exploring method.
