Abstract

Objective To explore the change and value of plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) in children with Kawasaki Disease(KD). Methods 51 KD patients, aged from 4 months to 75 months, and 15 patients with acute upper respiratory infection as control were enrolled into the experiment.Plasma concentrations of BNP and NT-proBNP were measured by ELISA. Results The levels of plasma NT-pro BNP and BNP were significantly higher in KD patients than those of control group;plasma NT-pro BNP level was significantly higher in iKD than that of control group. Conclusion The data indicated that plasma BNP and NT-pro BNP could be used as useful biochemical markers in diagnosis of KD,and plasma NT-proBNP is more valuable in diagnosis of iKD.
