Abstract
Objective To study the diagnostic value of c Myc and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)in the benign and malignant thyroid neoplasms. Methods Expressions of C Myc and PCNA were detected in 28 thyroid adenomas and 30 thyroid carcinomas by immunohistochemical method. Results The positive rate of c Myc and PCNA was significantly higher in thyroid carcinoma than those in thyroid adenoma(90.0% and 80.0% VS 42.9% and 53.6%,respectively)( P 0.05).C Myc was mainly located in nuclear of tumor cells in thyroid adenomawith a positive rate of 83.3%.,while c Myc was mainly located in cytoplasm of tumor cells in thyroid carcinoma, with a positive rate of 88.9%.No correlation was observed between c Myc and PCNA expression in thyroid neoplasm. Conclusion The detection of c My and PCNA is valuable to differentiate between benign and malignant neoplasm of thyroid gland, and there is no synergy between c Myc and PCNA expression in thyroid neoplasm.
