Abstract

Aim To analyze the outcome of surveillance of plague in Guangxi. Methods Rodents were captured by cages and the species were identified. Flea index was determined and the antibody of plague F1 was determined by IHA. Results Totally 154 318 rats were captured and 33 877 fleas were collected in the last 10 years. There 76 814 rat samples and 20 human samples were cultured and detected and 31 Yersinia Pestis strains were isolated. Indirect hemorrhagic assay (IHA)was used to test the 142 681 rat sera and indicator animals for F1 antibody, and 3 positive rats and 35 positive indicator animals were detected. Plague occurred in 34 natural villages in 4 towns of 2 counties. Conclusion The prevalence of plague in Guangxi has been preliminarily controlled after outbreak. The preventive strategy is markedly effective, but there are still a lot of control work for plague control has tobe carried out.
