Shuikoushan Workers and the Struggle in Jinggangshan

Abstract

The Shuikoushan workers were one of the important armed forces in the Jinggangshan period,making great contributions to the building of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base.The Shuikoushan Uprising was one of the relatively influential rebellions launched by our Party after the Autumn Harvest Uprising.It echoed to the uprising in South Hunan,and after the uprising the troop,led by Zhu De and Chen Yi,arrived in Jinggangshan.When the Fourth Red Army was established in May 1928,the troop was organized as a special task battalion directly commanded by the army headquarters.It was the first special task battalion in the history of our army,and was later reorganized into the Central Garrison Corps.The Shuikoushan workers participated in not a few famous battles in Jinggangshan.The skilled workers established the first armory of our army to repair and produce weapons,and the leader of the uprising,Song Qiaosheng,became an important leader in the border area.
