Abstract
The effect of different plant density on physiological characters and yield of maize was studied by field experiment under Taihangshan Mountain of Hebei ecological conditions. The result showed that the relative chlorophyll content, single dry matter weight decreased and community leaf area index, photosynthesis potential, community dry weight increased as well as the yield showed a curve of first increase and later drop as plant density increased. It is suggested that the high yield of Xianyu335 and Zhengdan958 had earned in plant density 75 000 plants/ha and 60 000 plants/ha respectively.
